Peter Rippon became Editor of BBC Two's Newsnight programme in November 2008.

 

Prior to this he was the Editor of The World At One, PM, Broadcasting House and The World Tonight on BBC Radio 4.

 

He was also the editor of iPM, an interactive news programme based on listener participation, and is one of the multimedia editors in BBC News.

 

His programmes have won numerous awards including Sony Gold in 2007 for interactivity for PM.

 

Peter has also edited Newshour at the BBC World Service.

 

Peter began his BBC career as a trainee reporter in 1989. He has worked at BBC World Television and in the World Service newsroom.

 

He has a Master's degree from Southampton University in International Politics and a BA (Hons) from the University of East Anglia in Philosophy and Politics.

 

Peter was born in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, and educated at Gillott's Comprehensive School.
