Presenter, BBC News at Ten

Huw Edwards is known to millions of viewers as main presenter of the BBC News at Ten, Britain's most popular television news bulletin.

 

He moved to the Ten in 2003, after a period presenting the BBC News at Six.

 

Huw joined the BBC more than 20 years ago, and has presented a wide range of programmes including Newsnight, Breakfast News and Panorama.

 

He has co-hosted two General Election results programmes on BBC Radio 4.

 

He is the BBC's voice at Trooping the Colour, the Festival of Remembrance and the State Opening of Parliament.

 

He anchored the BBC's coverage of death of Pope John Paul II and the extensive coverage of the 60th Anniversary of D-Day.

 

He led the BBC's commentary team at the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Beijing Olympics in 2008.

 

Huw spent 12 years reporting politics for the BBC at Westminster, including two years as Chief Political Correspondent.

 

He has also presented a range of programmes on history and classical music on BBC Four, BBC Two, BBC Radio 3, Radio 4 and S4C.

 

His recent projects have included a documentary on David Lloyd George for BBC Four, and a series on Gladstone and Disraeli.

 

He is a pianist and organist, and has enjoyed a long association with the renowned Cardiff Singer Of The World competition on BBC Two. He will host the final again at St David's Hall next year.

 

Huw was brought up in Llangennech, Carmarthenshire and attended Llanelli Grammar School. He graduated in French from the University of Wales, Cardiff.

 

He is an Honorary Fellow of the University of Wales and Honorary Professor of Journalism at Cardiff University.

 

He lives in London with his wife and five children.
