Fiona Bruce is a presenter on the BBC Ten O'Clock News and the Six O'Clock News.

 

She also presents Antiques Roadshow for BBC One.

 

Her recent projects have included a special documentary on Cherie Blair for BBC One and an exclusive interview with Bill Gates as he stood down as head of Microsoft for a special hour-long edition of The Money Programme on BBC Two.

 

Fiona presented Crimewatch for eight years until December 2007. She also presented the BBC One current affairs strand Real Story With Fiona Bruce for four years, as well as making hour-long special documentaries for BBC One.

 

Prior to her role at the Ten O'Clock News, she presented the Six O'Clock News for four years.

 

In 2001 she was the first woman presenter to be part of the BBC's election team.

 

She has presented, as part of the BBC events team, on the death of Her Majesty The Queen Mother, the marriage of HRH Prince Edward and Sophie, and the 60th anniversary of the Dunkirk evacuation.

 

Before becoming a presenter, Fiona worked as a reporter on Newsnight, on the BBC One flagship current affairs programme Panorama, and the weekly current affairs programme Public Eye for BBC Two.

 

Prior to this she presented the former BBC World Service Television's daily programme Newsday and reported on BBC One's Breakfast News in 1992, before joining BBC South East as a news presenter and reporter for the regional current affairs programme First Sight.

 

Fiona has also chaired the classic BBC panel game Call My Bluff, as well as hosting BBC Radio 2 arts show The Green Room.

 

She began her career at the BBC in 1989 as a researcher and then as assistant producer on Panorama, covering a variety of ground-breaking stories which took her to locations throughout Europe, the Gulf, Kurdistan and the USA.

 

Fiona has also written Savvy!, a book about crime and safety issues for women.

 

Fiona speaks fluent French and Italian and is a graduate of Oxford University.

 

She is married with two young children and lives in London.

 

She was born in April 1964.
