More than a million people switch on to Julie Reinger every day to find out what the weather has in store.

Whether it's a blizzard on the A14 or a summer scorcher on the coast, Julie provides live updates to television and radio audiences across the Eastern Counties.

Known to the Look East viewers as "Jules", her forecasts are delivered with a blend of authority and her trademark sunny personality.

From live outside broadcasts with elephants, to exploring the region's open gardens, to forecasts on ice, her nine years as the face of Look East's weather have certainly been varied.

As well as tracking the latest weather fronts, Julie has made her mark as a current affairs reporter with the BBC's Inside Out programme.

Recent assignments have included the 60th anniversary of the winter of 1947 and a hard-hitting report on binge drinking among young women.

She also embarked on a historical journey across the East of England for the BBC One programme, Seven Man-Made Wonders of the East.

Julie is a natural entertainer and is a regular fixture on the region's BBC Children in Need nights.

She has also enjoyed performing in front of live audiences. She starred as Fairy Kindheart in panto at Sheringham, made a one-off appearance as Eliza Doolittle at the Felixstowe Spa Pavilion, and she went down a storm performing Shirley Bassey's Hey Big Spender at Norwich's Theatre Royal.

Julie was born in Oxfordshire and studied broadcast journalism at Nottingham Trent University.

She joined the BBC in 1992, working in the East Midlands before moving to Look East in 1999 when she succeeded the veteran weather presenter Ivor Moores.

Outside work, Julie has a passion for music – everything from Maximo Park to the Opera Babes. She's a regular at local gigs.

Home is a country cottage which she shares with her partner (BBC football commentator Chris Goreham) and their rather over-indulged cat Jasper.

Any spare time is spent outdoors, as she loves gardening, although by her own admission she's not particularly green fingered!

Julie Reinger appears on Look East at 1.30pm and 6.30pm each weekday.

You can also hear her teatime forecast on the following BBC local radio stations: Radio Northampton, Radio Cambridgeshire, Three Counties Radio, BBC Essex, Radio Norfolk and Radio Suffolk.
