Chief Executive Officer, BBC Children In Need

David Ramsden was appointed Chief Executive Officer of BBC Children In Need in March 2007.

 

David grew up in Nottinghamshire and studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Oxford University.

 

After an early career as Research Assistant to an MP, in 1991 David traded politics for the life of a Chartered Accountant at Ernst & Young.

 

He remained with the global organisation for six years before taking the opportunity to see a bit more of the world on a nine-month trip.

 

Upon returning to the UK, David decided to make a shift into the charity sector, with a finance job at the British Red Cross.

 

He joined BBC Children In Need as Head of Finance and Operations in 2000, moved up to Chief Operating Officer and remained in this role until the departure of Chief Executive Officer Sally Deighan prompted his promotion to the role of Interim CEO in August 2006.

 

David is married and lives in London.
