David Jordan is the BBC's Controller, Editorial Policy, a post he took up in December 2005.
Previously he was the BBC's Chief Political Adviser from November 2003.
He
was the Editor of the BBC flagship political programme On The Record from 1992
to 2003 and during that time created BBC ONE's The E Files and BBC Radio 4's The
Westminster Hour.
He also made made political programmes for
Radio 4 and the first BBC Political Awards.
David Jordan joined the BBC in 1988 to
help set up On The Record. He was also Deputy Editor and Acting Editor of Panorama
between 1990 and 1992.
He began his career in broadcast journalism by joining
London Weekend Television’s Weekend World in 1984.
Before entering journalism, he was a research officer at the GMB Union and the Low Pay Unit.
In his first year after leaving Bristol University,
where he read Economics and Politics, he worked for Age Concern (England).
