Andrew Jackson

Head of the Natural History Unit, BBC Vision

Andrew became the Head of the BBC Natural History Unit in autumn 2009.

He is responsible for heading up the award-winning production unit based in Bristol, delivering a wide range of natural history programmes on TV, radio, online and for the cinema.

Andrew rejoined the BBC to take up this post after an 18-year absence working in the independent sector.

He began his TV career in BBC News and Current Affairs before joining the Natural History Unit in 1986.

As a producer-director he worked on several award-winning series for BBC One and BBC Two.

He joined Tigress Production in 1991 producing and directing the ITV specials In The Wild. He worked with, among others, Julia Roberts, Goldie Hawn and Bob Hoskins.

While at Tigress he was directly involved in producing or directing more than 100 hours of TV.

He became Managing Director in 2002 and helped build a worldwide reputation for Tigress for making outstanding science, wildlife and adventure programmes.

Andrew grew up in Malaysia and lives in Bristol with his family.
