Rob Bonnet presents sport bulletins and extratime on BBC World.
During his time on extratime, Rob has interviewed some of the biggest names in sport including Shane Warne, Boris Becker, Patrick Vieira, Martina Navratilova, Pete Sampras, Frankie Dettori, Ian Thorpe, Jonny Wilkinson, Sir Clive Woodward and Sepp Blatter.
Rob started his career as a freelance station assistant for Radio Brighton and joined BBC Local Radio on its station assistant trained reserve in 1978. In the summer of 1980 he joined Radio Norfolk as a producer, before progressing into sports broadcasting. After an attachment with Radio 1’s Newsbeat, he joined BBC Radio Sport as a football producer in the autumn of 1982.
After working as a sports reporter for BBC East, Rob joined the BBC television newsroom as sports reporter in February 1987. Within two years was promoted to sports correspondent. In this role, Rob covered the world's biggest sporting events including the Olympics, Football and Rugby World Cups, European Football Championships and other major tournaments. In 1995 Rob began a 10-year stint as sports presenter on BBC ONE’s Breakfast News.
Born in London, Rob attended the University of Sussex, where he studied English and French.
