Adnan Nawaz has been a sport presenter on BBC World News since 2001.
He has reported from a range of events including the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, the 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup in the Caribbean and the FIFA 2006 World Cup in Germany.
Adnan hosted BBC World News' first interactive sports programme, My World Cup, from the 2006 football tournament in Germany. This was followed by My Cricket World Cup in 2007 and My Games, presented live from Beijing in 2008.
These programmes feature contributions from fans around the world, using their webcams and other interactive tools to share their views and appear live on the channel.
Adnan's first job at the BBC was in 1994 as a Broadcast Assistant in the Latin American section of BBC World Service radio. He joined BBC Radio Sport in 1995, and two years later produced the Sony Award-winning programme, Papertalk, on BBC Radio 5 Live.
He worked on a multitude of sports documentaries largely focusing on sport as a cultural and political phenomenon before joining the BBC News Channel as a producer in 2000.
Away from work, Adnan enjoys watching cricket and football, prefering Serie A and La Liga to the English Premiership. He has watched football matches in England, Scotland, Italy, Chile, France, Portugal, Spain, the former Yugoslavia and the United States.
His greatest sporting heroes include Steve Waugh and Michael Laudrup, with Diego Maradona and Ayrton Senna following close behind.
Born in Pakistan, Adnan graduated from the London School of Economics with a BSc in Economics and International Relations and completed an MA in Latin American Politics at the Institute of Latin American Studies, University of London.
He set up his own advertising company before embarking on a career in journalism.
Adnan is very well travelled and has lived in the Philippines, Italy and England and has spent time working and living in the United States, France and Chile. He speaks five languages.
