3rd & Bird! flies to Sweden and Middle East

On the eve of MipTV, BBC Worldwide announces two initial sales for children's animation series 3rd & Bird! to public service broadcaster SVT in Sweden and Al Jazeera in the Middle East.

The show, which broadcasts on CBeebies in the UK, comes from Little Airplane the renowned producers of The Wonder Pets and launches officially at MipTV 2009. Josh Selig, the creator of 3rd & Bird! will be attending the market this year to promote the show alongside distribution partner BBC Worldwide.

In an early sale, SVT has secured broadcasting rights for all 50 x 10 minute episodes and the 20 minute special of 3rd & Bird! which is told in the unique photo-puppetry animation created by Little Airplane Productions. Arabic channel Al Jazeera has also bought all 50 episodes to broadcast 3rd & Bird! in the Middle East.

BBC Worldwide, who holds global distribution rights for the programme, also recently announced a multi-year deal for Fisher-Price as the master toy licensee for the property. BBC Books and BBC Children’s DVD have confirmed roll-out plans for 3rd & Bird! this year and the first merchandise lines are set to hit retail from Spring 2010.
