BBC Worldwide and Kudos in landmark content deal

BBC Worldwide and Kudos Film and Television have concluded a major new distribution deal, further cementing the long standing relationship between them.


In a deal announced today, BBC Worldwide will take on just over 55 hours of primetime Kudos output, with Kudos taking an active role in all aspects of its distribution. 


The deal significantly increases the total Kudos catalogue with BBC Worldwide to almost 150 hours. This will include international rights on both traditional and digital platforms.


Included in the new content agreement will be new primetime drama series destined for both BBC and ITV in the UK, such as eighties detective series, Ashes to Ashes, crime drama The Fixer, spy series, Liberty, and recently launched police drama, Holby Blue, a Red Planet Pictures in association with Kudos production. In addition, BBC Worldwide takes on Kudos' teen targeted spy series, MI High.


BBC Worldwide Director of Independents, Helen Jackson, said: "Kudos is a driving force in British television with a flair for generating hits that pack a punch both at home and overseas. Having worked together for many years, Kudos is without doubt one of our closest and most important content partners in the market. Our work with Kudos is a very close collaboration that adds new layers of value to their content through our commercial relationships around the world."


Kudos Commercial Director, Daniel Isaacs, said: "We have been looking to take a more strategic and hands on approach to the distribution of our titles. This major deal allows us to do that and builds on the fantastic relationship we enjoy with BBC Worldwide. They have been integral part of the commercial success of Kudos over the last 5 years."


Other Kudos titles distributed by BBC Worldwide include Magicians House, Confidence Lab,  Hustle, Life on Mars and Spooks which has now been sold to over 70 broadcasters worldwide.
