BBC Worldwide announced today it has concluded
two major co-production deals with Canadian broadcaster, CBC, for Torchwood,
the BBC's latest sci-fi thriller, and Doctor Who series three.
Torchwood (13 x 50 mins) is a dark, clever and wild
British crime sci-fi thriller from the extraordinary writer of Doctor
Who, Russell T Davies. The series follows the adventures of a team of
investigators, led by the enigmatic Captain Jack (John Barrowman).
Set in the UK in 2006, the team use scavenged alien
technology in a very real world to solve crime; both alien and human.
CBC has also signed up for a third series of Doctor
Who adventures following the critical success of the first series and
the Christmas special, hosted by Billie Piper exclusively for CBC viewers
on Boxing Day. Series two is currently in production in Wales and is
due to air on CBC in Fall 2006.

with CBC means that the Doctor and the TARDIS will rematerialize on
CBC screens for the third series and that it will be joined by Russell

Torchwood is brought to television screens by the creative
team behind the international phenomenon Doctor Who - creator, lead
writer and executive producer Russell T Davies and executive producer
Julie Gardner.
