Gill Pritchard has been appointed SVP Business Developement in the U.S.

As SVP Business Development for both BBC AMERICA and BBC Worldwide's New Media division, she will be based in the company's New York headquarters.

Her responsibilities will include driving new revenue streams for BBC AMERICA and working to give U.S. audiences the chance to view more British content on demand over IPTV, broadband and mobile.

Gill is currently Head of Strategy for BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the BBC, working directly with CEO John Smith. Over the last 18 months Gill has been at the heart of BBC Worldwide's turnaround, including the doubling of profits and an aggressive growth strategy focussed on emerging markets, channels and new media.

CEO John Smith said: "The U.S. is a priority market for BBC Worldwide and Gill's move strengthens our ability to identify new business opportunities and build on the success of BBC AMERICA. I am delighted that Gill, who has played such a key role in delivering BBC Worldwide's turnaround and identifying new growth opportunities for us, will now lead our new media push in the U.S."

Bill Hilary, President and CEO BBC AMERICA added: "This is the time to grow BBC AMERICA's brand on all forms of new media. Gill has the perfect knowledge and experience to help us expand the BBC's premier channel in the U.S."

Gill joined the BBC's Financial & Commercial Strategy team in 2003, having spent 4 years in the Strategy, Finance and Economics department of Deloitte Consulting. She is a qualified accountant and an economist by background. She will take up her new position in July.
