I am not an animal released on DVD

Deep inside the laboratories at Vivi-Sec UK, scientist Mike Simmons runs the top secret Project S - an experiment to create talking animals. Duped into thinking they live in a cosy home, the animals have human personalities and names, wear specially designed clothes, hold pseudo-intellectual conversations, drink fine wine, eat gourmet foods and dream of one day visiting that 'special place' London.

All is well until a bungling group of animal rights activists raid the lab, and the animals escape into the real world.

I Am Not An Animal is the first animated comedy production from Baby Cow Animation and stars the voice talents of Steve Coogan, Julia Davis, Simon Pegg, Amelia Bulmore, Kevin Eldon and Arthur Mathews.

Once in the wild, the animals (consisting of an ambitious right-wing sparrow, a bulldog obsessed with settling down, a horse with literary pretensions, a sex-crazed monkey in love with a slutty rat, and a rabbit who survived earlier, less successful experiments) quickly realise life outdoors is anything but great, and soon they are running out of money and into trouble fast...

I Am Not An Animal was written and directed by Peter Baynham (writer on The Day Today, I'm Alan Partridge, Brass Eye), with Tim Searle (2DTV) as Animation Director. The series was produced by Richard Bennett, with Executives Producers Steve Coogan and Henry Normal, and first screened in May 2004 on BBC TWO.

As well as all six thirty minute episodes of I Am Not An Animal, the DVD features a commentary on three episodes with Peter Baynham, Steve Coogan and Tim Searle and a making of documentary called "I Am Not An Animal I Am An Animation", produced and directed by David Lambert.
