A staggering 97% of people were able to recognise classic Only Fools & Horses catchphrases when written in text form, according to a recent poll carried out by BBC Video. 86% of people said their kids watch & enjoy Only Fools & Horses, adding further weight to the notion that Only Fools & Horses appeals to today's youth.
Over 50% decided Rodney was the biggest "plonker" from a list that included Alan Partridge, Blackadder's Baldrick and Fawlty Tower's Manuel, and the same number said that plonker was the most commonly used Only Fools & Horses catchphrase in every day language.
Since its first transmission in 1981, Only Fools & Horses has remained a firm favourite with people of all ages, regularly winning people's choice awards and only this year was voted Britain's Best Sitcom out of 100 comedy shows.
Sales of Only Fools & Horses DVDs have already topped 1 million to date, and over one third of people surveyed said they owned a DVD or video of the series.
BBC Video are now offering fans a chance to top up their collections from this Monday 1 st November with their first ever "Buy One Get One Free" deal on 16 Only Fools & Horses DVD titles, including three new DVDs that consist of a selection of favourite episodes from all seven series.
