Three new Rick Stein books

Rick Stein is famed for his passion and skill as a chef and for championing home-produced fresh ingredients. In these three new little books he has looked back over his career and chosen twelve each of his favourite starter, main course and pudding recipes.

Not only are these some of his favourite recipes but he has also made sure there are recipes suitable for most occasions whether it be a light lunch with a friend, supper for the children or a serious dinner party.

Starters include Cod and Lobster chowder; Mouclade; Cured duck breasts with melon; and Grilled tuna salad with guacamole, a dish that Rick believes sums up his cooking best and which is still served at The Seafood Restaurant. Many of these recipes could be served as main courses, light lunches or supper dishes as well as starters.

Main Courses, although famed particularly for his seafood cookery in his most recent Food Heroes books and TV series, Rick has shown that seafood is not his only passion and this can be seen here in his choice of favourite main course recipes which include Crisp Chinese roast pork; Barbecued butterflied lamb; Leek cannelloni with lemon thyme; and Prawn caldine.

Puddings include popular nursery favourites Caramelised bread-and-butter pudding and Steamed treacle sponge; British classics White Wine Syllabub and a Traditional English trifle; to Panna Cotta with stewed rhubarb.

All of the recipes in these books are straightforward and accompanied by a full colour photograph so that everyone can enjoy the food of one of Britain's most respected and popular chefs. They are the perfect stocking filler for all fans of Rick Stein and of fresh, mouth watering food.

Rick Stein OBE is one of the nation’s favourite cookery writers. His previous books include Taste of the Sea, which won the 1995 Andre Simon Memorial Fund Food Book Award, and Rick Stein's Seafood, which has become the acknowledged reference book on the subject.

Food Heroes, and Food Heroes: Another Helping, which accompanied the TV series of the same name, were major bestsellers and his guidebook, Rick Stein's Guide to the Food Heroes of Britain, was met with great acclaim.

Every year, the Seafood Restaurant in Padstow attracts thousands of fish lovers from Britain and abroad and the Padstow Seafood School is now firmly established as a centre of culinary excellence.

Rick Stein Starters, Main Courses and Puddings are each £4.99 and published on 14 October by BBC Books.
