Hague Joins Campaign to Rename HeathrowThe Conservative leader, William Hague, has added his voice to the calls for London's Heathrow Airport to be named after Diana, Princess of Wales. The campaign is gaining cross-party support at Westminster.Mr Hague, speaking in Cardiff, said: "Heathrow is one of our main gateways to the rest of the world and other countries such as the United States and France have named airports their airports after major public figures." He said it was one measure that could be taken quickly while the Government was deciding how best to honour Diana's memory. Labour MP Lindsay Hoyle said he had written to airport operators BAA urging them to consider the switch. He said: "This would be an ideal way to keep Diana's name constantly in people's minds the world over. It would be a marvellous working tribute to her for her name to be associated in the years ahead with international travel." A Downing Street spokesman said that the special committee, under Chancellor Gordon Brown's chairmanship, would take cross-party soundings on all suggestions. "Nothing is ruled out and nothing is ruled in," he added.
