BBC Points West's Dave Harvey

Dave Harvey

If it involves the West's economy, Dave Harvey will be covering it. From the effects of the recession to new inventions and technologies, it's all in his blog. Educated in the West Country, he’s been with the BBC since the late eighties.

Journalists? Dave explains, "They're just people who’ll tell ya something for tuppence."

The bluff motto of Dave’s first editor still rings in his ears.

After joining the BBC in 1989, Dave worked for Radio 4 for ten years.

Between stints on Start the Week, and The World at One he was, briefly, the token man on Woman’s Hour.

Educated in Bath and Wiltshire, he moved back to the West in 2002 to cover politics.

Dave & The Politics Bus in Easton

He was the Political Correspondent for the BBC in the West before turning to Business in 2008 when his predecessor Malcolm Frith retired.

It's fair to say that food is close to Dave's heart.

Even before the rest of the country was considering 'food miles', Dave was behind the successful Eat the West series which looked at putting local produce on to our plates without wasting energy or creating pollution transporting it miles and miles.

Since taking over as Business Correspondent, Dave has followed the effects of the recession on local businesses and more generally upon the local economy. He has recently started a blog, which you can access via the link below.

Dave lives in Bristol with his wife Alison and their children.
