Instrument and Equipment Awards

We are no longer running the Instrument and Equipment awards, however there are many other societies that currently offer help in the purchase of instruments and equipment:

THE ARTS COUNCIL - ENGLAND
The scheme allows individuals to apply for a loan of up to £2,000 for the purchase of any kind of musical instrument, and pay it back in nine monthly instalments, completely interest free.

THE MUSICIANS BENEVOLENT FUND
The MBF Young Talent Awards are an important source of funding for instrumentalists and are made to those with a high level of musical achievement where there is financial need.

BENSLOW MUSIC TRUST
The Instrument Loan Scheme lends high quality instruments to promising young players and students, throughout the UK, who are unable to afford or obtain a suitable instrument of their own.

TOM ACTON MEMORIAL TRUST
The trust supports young musicians from Essex aged 25 or under with financial help for instruments, tuition, and other expenses.

THE SKINNERS COMPANY
Lawrence Atwell founded his charity in 1588 to 'set poor people upon work'. Grants are made to help young individuals find vocational routes out of poverty and disadvantage.

THE COUNTESS OF MUNSTER MUSICAL TRUST
Each year the Trust is able to offer a small number of interest-free loans, to former beneficiaries who are on the threshold of their careers, to help with the purchase of musical instruments.

LOAN FUND FOR MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS
Set up by the Arts Council of England, The Musicians Union, The Royal Society of Arts and the Worshipful Company of Musicians. Enables young professional musicians to purchase high quality instruments appropriate to their careers, which they would not otherwise be ale to afford.

DEVON COUNTY COUNCIL - Dulce Haigh Marshall Trust
This organisation gives grants for financial help to string players resident in Devon. Players of the violin, viola, cello and bass can apply for assistance related to advancing their musical education, including help towards the purchase of a musical instrument.

ROYAL PHILHARMONIC SOCIETY, Sir John Barbirolli Memorial Foundation
Offers financial assistance to help music students purchase better quality instruments.
