Babies

The Child of Our Time project began in 2000 with an introduction to 25 babies who were born around the millennium.

Are we born or are we made?

Child of Our Time began with a question: are we born or are we made? In the first episode of the groundbreaking series, we started to look for an answer.

This unique project follows the lives of 25 babies born around the start of the 21st century as they grow from infants to adults. Could their parents and environment influence them, or were their lives already mapped out by their genes?

Alison with baby Parys

In this first programme, we met ten of the families and learnt about the new parents' hopes and fears.

Would tiny TJ grow up to be clever as his mum, Marie, hoped? Would William inherit his dad's confidence and sporting ability?

How would severely disabled Alison cope with her lively son, Parys, without the arms to cuddle him?

Find out what happened in the second series.
