"Love others as you love yourself"

Rebecca

Community spirit

Rebecca as a baby

Rebecca's parents, Mark and Gill, are active members of their local Jewish community in Essex. When she was born, Mark ran a factory and Gill was a full-time mum.

Gill is devoted to her children's education and active at their schools. Rebecca has always had plenty of toys and help with her development. She's doing as well as her older brother, David, who learnt to read and write at a very young age.

Gill stayed at home until Rebecca started school. She's now a learning support assistant in a local secondary school.

The family is sociable. However, since she started working, Gill finds it hard to meet with friends and relations as much as she used to.

Food has always been a big part of the family's social occasions, and this has been an issue for Gill and Rebecca. Gill worries about being overweight, while Rebecca used to be small for her age and very slim. Now she has caught up in height with the rest of her class.

Sociable child

Rebecca has joined Brownies and is taking gym classes, which she loves. She's in the top set for all her lessons at school and is a sociable girl with lots of friends and after-school activities.

Rebecca adores her older brother. She also enjoys putting on make-up and wearing anything pink.
