Parys

"I have an imaginary friend called Blue. I see him nine days a week"

Parys

Parys's mother

Parys as a baby

Parys lives with his mum, Alison, who's an artist. She's disabled and has raised her son on her own.

Alison's pregnancy, at the age of 34, was unexpected. She approached motherhood with determination and courage.

During her pregnancy, she modelled for artist Mark Quinn. His statue, called Alison Lapper Pregnant, is on display in Trafalgar Square in London.

Parys was delivered by caesarean on 6 January 2000. He was a healthy and energetic baby, looked after by his mother and several carers.

Travel opportunities

Parys

By the time Parys was three, he was a demanding, active and charming little boy. The same year, Alison received an MBE from the Queen for her services to art.

Parys has continued to flourish and Alison's career has gone from strength to strength. In 2006, Alison and Parys travelled to South Korea for an exhibition of Alison's work. They were treated like royalty and followed almost constantly by the press.

Close relationship

Parys

Alison worries about the number of people who have cared for Parys over the years, but Parys has a close relationship with her. He has a healthy ability to make friends and to work at school.
