Ethan

"That was a real burp, Mum, not a pretend one"

Ethan

Early years

Ethan lives in Northern Ireland with mum Kerri, dad Jonathan and brother Jordan. Jonathan works for his father's firm, servicing industrial boilers. Kerri was a single mum when she met Jonathan - she had her first son when she was 19.

Before Ethan was born, Kerri had lost three baby girls - one miscarried, one was stillborn and the third, Ethan's twin, miscarried in the third month of pregnancy. Her father also died around this time.

As a baby, Ethan had a placid temperament.

Lively spirit

In 2005, Ethan was diagnosed with attention deficit disorder and was prescribed Ritalin to improve his concentration at school. It worked, but Kerri felt it sapped Ethan's lively spirit.

She decided to make sure he takes his medicine on school days but not in the evenings or at weekends.

Ethan's close to his mum. He plays computer games to an extremely high level and has a reaction time that beats most adults. He enjoys helping his friends to become as accomplished as he is.
