If you're following the Child of Our Time series and want to know more, here are answers to some of the most commonly asked questions.


Can I buy a DVD of the series?

There are no plans to release a DVD of the series.

When is Child of Our Time on TV?

Series eight was shown on BBC One at 8pm on 7, 14 and 21 May. The next series is not yet scheduled.

Is there a book to accompany the series?

Yes. Child of Our Time by Tessa Livingstone (£14.99, Bantam Press) is available from most high street retailers and online booksellers. ISBN: 0593054008.

Can I use clips from the programme for educational purposes?

We don't allow anyone to use material from the programmes. We have very strict agreements with our contributors, which state that the material won't be used by anyone else.

How can I get the activity cards from series eight (2008)?

You can download the cards from theOpen University.

Can I get in touch with Professor Lord Robert Winston about my child?

Sorry, but Professor Winston isn't available for personal consultations. If you need to speak to someone about your child's development (such as learning or social skills), ask your GP for a referral to a child psychologist, or ask your child's school to see if it offers such a service.

How did you find the families featured in the series?

The Child of Our Time production team searched for and selected the children and their families that feature in the programme. The series is governed by strict BBC policy guidelines concerning the filming of members of the public and written consent is required for filming and the participation in experiments, among other legal and ethical stipulations.
