Adoption UK is a national charity run by and for adopters, providing help, information, advice, support and training on all aspects of adoption and adoptive parenting. The British Association for Adoption and Fostering (BAAF) is one of the UK's leading charities for children in care, providing services to meet the needs of some of the UK's most vulnerable children and young people. Advice line for any questions about adoption: 0800 653 9626.

Barnardo's has more than 100 years' experience of fostering and can offer help and support to someone trying to trace their birth family. They also operate fostering and adoption agencies and recruit a wide range of foster carers from across the UK.

After Adoption is a leading adoption support charity and provides services throughout England and Wales. They find adoptive placements for children and support all those affected by adoption. They are the largest provider of search and intermediary services and have been creating, maintaining and reuniting family connections for over 20 years. Phone: 0800 0568578

Birth Ties is a service provided by the charity After Adoption, and offers help and advice for birth parents whose child is at risk of or has been adopted. For free information and support call: 0800 8502020.

Family Futures was established in 1998 in order to develop a specialist service for children in adoptive families, foster families and families living with children who have experienced separation, loss or early trauma. it is now recognised as a centre of excellence, specialising in therapeutic work for children who have experienced early trauma and have attachment difficulties. The Fostering Network is a UK charity for everyone involved in fostering, working to imprive the lives of children in foster care. Adoptionplus is based in Buckinghamshire, near Milton Keynes and was set up to find families for older children who have a history of neglect and trauma. The charity provides families with access to therapeutic support until their child is 18 and believes that the right type of support, at the time it is needed, promotes good emotional health and a happier family life.
