To say that Ian Pearson has dominated this year's Formula Renault BARC Championship Club Class would be an understatement. The Didcot engineer has won the championship with three races to spare.

Ian Pearson has also been named the UK's first Motorsport Champion of 2005 following yet another dominant two races at Brands Hatch last weekend.

Pearson has won all nine rounds of the Club Class championship so far, and has only dropped one point for pole position all season leaving it impossible for the others to catch him.

After an outstanding win on Saturday Pearson led the race from start to finish, making history as the first Club Class driver in his Tatuus RC 97 to win a race outright after starting third on the grid behind two of the eight cars competing in the FR2000 class. Pearson further proved his skill around the wet circuit by also setting the outright fastest lap for the race.

Another Club Class win and fourth overall on Sunday sealed the championship for him.

To make the achievement even more incredible, Pearson probably runs on the lowest budget on the grid, spending under £5,000 a season.

However, being on such a low budget, Pearson is limited as to how he progresses his racing career from here. "I’m really grateful to everyone who has helped this year without their help this season would have been even harder."

Ian is now looking to compete in the faster FR2000 class for the remainder of the season and in the Formula Renault UK Winter Series.

The next round is at Snetterton on the 20th and 21st of August, Ian will carry on racing for the remainder of the season in his Club Class car, but hopefully he will get a chance to prove himself in an FR2000 car if his budget can be met.
