Anton
Barbeau is an odd character. I first heard about him when he sent
me a CD just prior to the first edition of The Download Radio show.
We liked it so much we gave it a spin.
Then
I heard he was playing an acoustic set at The Turf.
My
colleague Dave and I popped down to see him playing and at the beginning
of the set Dave said; "You should interview this guy."
A great
set followed interspersed with quite a lot of random psychedelic
banter about having a near break down - "I don't think I want
to now," I said as we left the venue.
But
an "interest" like Anton should be explored further. If
there was no inquisitive spirit in the world we'd never have found
the country he now lives in.
You
see Anton is an American with a love affair with Oxford and now
that he's left our fair and pleasant city for home all we have to
remember him by is this little video.
It
features him playing with Inflatable Buddha's Su Jordan at his digs
just off the Cowley Road.
Enjoy.
