Drinking,
partying, singing and the occasional pencil dive from Magdalen bridge
has long been associated with Oxford's May Day celebrations.
Jumping
off Magdalen Bridge in full evening dress was once a cherished part
of Oxford's May morning tradition but jumpers have been paralysed
in the past and as a result the city council has put in place safety
plans to cope with the several thousand people who are expected
to gather near the bridge.
