Just
in the nick of time the construction men working on The Cowley Road
packed away their gear and the estimated 20,000 revellers poured
in. The fourth annual event in East Oxford was the biggest yet.
It
wasn't as hot as in previous years but there were more stalls and
activities than ever before. The Zodiac had a fantastic local music
stage in the courtyard behind the venue and Manzil Way was packed
with stages, events and merriment.
The
whole street was lined with food stalls taking advantage of their
temporary licence to print money. You could buy anything from a
chicken noodle to a strawberry pancake.
You
only need to take a brief look through our galleries to see the
vast amount of effort so many of the diverse community groups had
put into the parade but it must be remembered that an event of this
scale can't be expected to continue year after year without the
continued support of the city which should treasure this fabulous
event.
