Chelsea Flower Show

Find out how Oxford's homeless are contributing to the event's show gardens.

It's always a big honour to be asked to contribute to the Chelsea Flower Show and for one group in Oxfordshire it means so much more. Tucked away in the heart of the hustle an bustle of Oxford is an oasis of calm. It's a gardening project run by the Oxford based Stepping Stones charity, who provide homeless people with the chance to learn and take part in all the benefits of the garden.

Dr Nigel Northcott is a Stepping Stones project worker and he explained to BBC Oxford's Joel Hammer how this unique allotment started.

Angie and Steveo both suffer from mental health issues. They have found great comfort in the allotment, and great pride in being part of a team that helped put together the Eden Project's garden that is showing at Chelsea.

The garden's designer Paul Stone also spoke to Joel Hammer to talk about what inspired him.

The team's efforts were happily topped off by winning the Silver Flora Award!
