Oxford Carers enjoying themselves.

Despite the rainy weather we're smiling!

Oxford carers go for a walk.

A group of Oxford carers brave the weather and go for a walk in Shotover Country Park.

Carers from Oxford had another opportunity to take a break from the strains of their caring responsibilities and relax.

The CSV Action Desk organised a short walk at Shotover Country Park, Oxford for carers to have some time to themselves and enjoy some of the wonderful countryside around Oxford.

Unfortunately the weather was against us! It poured just before we were due to meet but once the rain had passed it turned out to be quite a pleasant sunny morning. Well done to those who braved the weather!

Carers are those looking after a relative, friend or neighbour who needs support at home because of frailty, illness, disability or a difficulty (such as an addiction). Many people don't realise that the support they give to a loved one every day makes them a carer.

Carers are unpaid. Being a carer brings its own rewards, but it can also be very hard work, both physically and emotionally. Oxford Carers Centre provides support and services to carers in Oxford. If you think you may be a carer, get in touch on or 01865 205192. If you live outside of Oxford, check out

CSV Action Desk are appealing for volunteers who would be interested  in becoming a befriender  to a Carer.  Training will be given along with all the support you need.  For more information phone the Action Desk at BBC Oxford on 08459 311222.
