Little Fish Studio Session

Find out what happened when Little Fish performed a live session for The Download.

The Oxfordshire musical discovery in the year of 2008 has got to be Little Fish. Since their first demo back in April they’ve toured relentlessly, garnered some fabulous reviews and just recently they became the first local band to play at the new Oxford Academy.

Their work is something of a tour de force, and stands out from anything else around. Julia Heslop on guitars and vocals can sound like a furious tiger in a velvet bag, shredding tunes with every guitar stroke. And despite this monstrous energy it’s exceptionally tight. Neil Greenaway’s drums compliment the baritone guitars to make a sound that is deep, rich and powerful.

All this bubbling energy sears through in their live performances which are quite often mesmerising. So with all this in mind we thought we’d better get them back in for a second live session on our local music show. The only thing is, how do you do a sound like that justice with just two mics and a tin-pot local radio station? The answer is you don’t. What you do is ask legendary local producer Richard Narco to loan us his studio for an evening and sit back and enjoy the magic.
