It offers a creative feast for all ages and organisers have invited back artists from the very first event! Join BBC Radio Oxford's Sybil Ruscoe at Art in Action on Friday 20th July between 1-4pm. Staged in the grounds of the graceful Georgian house at Waterperry, Oxfordshire, it's the UK's only art fair where so many artists can be seen at work. ![]() Art in Action pottery demonstration This four day event between the 19-22 July is packed with inspiration and visitors can learn or buy from the artists who set up their studios in one of the many Art in Action marquees. This year's event will see more than 250 artists and craftsmen from around the world take part bringing together: Chinese Arts; Indian Arts; Abrahamic Arts; Calligraphy; Ceramics; Drawing; Glass; Illustration; Metalwork and Jewellery; Painting; Printmaking; Sculpture; Textiles and Woodwork. New for 2007!New features include demonstrations of work by students and alumni of the Prince's School of Traditional Arts and by artists-in-residence from Nature in Art, a charitable trust whose emphasis is art inspired by nature. There will also be a new contingent of 10 artists coming from India organised by the Indian art and craft organisation, Dilli Haat. ![]() Art in Action 30 years on...The first Art in Action event took place with about 50 artists in 1977. Over the last 30 years it has grown significantly and has now become an annual pilgrimage for anyone interested in the visual arts. Visitors can see and buy new art, attend demonstrations, learn new creative skills, buy from the Craft Market, purchase art materials that will make it possible for ‘would-be artists’ to take home the tools they need to get started. On top of all that Art in Action offers fine music, performing artists, storytelling for children and guided tours of the beautiful Waterperry gardens.
