MusicYou are in: Oxford > Entertainment > Music > Shaodow interview ![]() Shaodow interviewThe rising hip hop hopeful keeps it real with a picnic at Blenheim Palace. You may know him as Mr Shaodow or just plain Shaodow. His friends and family will know him as Elliot Haslam. We know him as the new rapper that has hit our music scene with a fist full of catchy songs. The meaning of that often mispronounced name stems from two sources – his own silhouette, or 'shadow', and that of his love of Shaolin Kung Fu. In fact his live gigs regularly feature the rapper demonstrating a display of kung fu moves. One such show was the latest Punt Festival, proving that it didn't take long for Shaodow's talent to get recognised by the local music press. Currently studying Business and Law in Oxford, Shaodow has big musical aspirations and tremendous drive when it comes to self-promotion, often in the shape of his self-produced music releases, fun music videos and even his own clothing line. He's also done it without resorting to the gangs and guns stereotypes so often overused in rap music. In fact he's not even afraid to have a little fun at its expense with satirical tunes like 'Look Out There's A Black Man Coming' and 'Help I'm A Rap Addict'. ![]() So as always, keeping it real, Shaodow recently spent an afternoon at Blenheim Palace having a picnic with The Download's Tim Bearder.
