It's sixteen years since the beautiful, long haired singer/songrwiter Beverley Craven was in the charts with her debut single 'Promise Me'. Sixteen years on, her hair is shorter but Beverley is still beautiful, still writing songs and - for the first time in a long time - about to embark on a nationwide tour.

Back in 1991, 'Promise Me' reached number three and was in the charts for thirteen weeks. She followed up that success with singles like 'Holding On' and 'Woman to Woman'. In 1992, her album, 'Beverley Craven' went double platinum and she won Best Newcomer at the Brits. That same year, she gave birth to her first child.

Beverley hasn't released a single since 1993 and her last album, 'Mixed Emotions', was in 1999. Since then, she's proud to say she's spent her time being a mum. She's married to Colin Campsie - former front man of the 80s band The Quick. They met backstage at a Tears for Fears gig. They have three girls - Mollie, 15, Brenna, 11 and Connie, 10.

Beverly has also been battling breast cancer - she found a lump when she 41. That was two years ago. She's now been given the all clear.

"The initial thing was dealing with the shock and it took a few months to believe what had happened. I thought they've got the diagnosis wrong - that they'd got my tests mixed up with someone else's. After that, I felt really angry. There wasn't a day went by when I didn't think about it several times. Then I went through a phase of being quite frightened. I was thinking is it going to come back? Now, two years on I feel quite positive about the whole thing. It made me realise I just need to get on and do stuff that I enjoy."

Fortunately she still enjoys writing songs, her voice still sounds as pure in the noughties as it did in the nineties and she's looking forward to embarking on her tour. She's playing nine dates. She's at Wycombe Town Hall on the 15th April.
