By Tim Bearder One of the great local acts playing at this year's Oxford Folk Festival is Bloxham band The wRants. We invited them into the studio to see what they could do.
The W in wRants is thankfully silent or we’d have an awful mess. It’s a W that harks back to their time at Warriner School in Bloxham where the band first formed.
They have progressed from a novelty school group but still have members as young as 14 so considering that it’s amazing to see what they have achieved. In their short career they’ve played at Cornbury in support of acts like Joe Cocker and Steve Harley, where they caught the attention of Fairport Convention legend Simon Nicol, he invited them to play at the 2006 Cropredy Festival.
This month sees them make their second appearance at The Oxford Town Hall as part of the Oxford Folk festival so we got them in for a chat about their experiences so far and to hear a little of what they can do.
