At this year’s Oxford Literary Festival Oxford Professor Richard Dawkins celebrates the 30th anniversary of his groundbreaking book The Selfish Gene. The book was first published in 1976 and profoundly influenced the scientific world as well as setting a bench-mark in popular scientific writing.

Just recently a new book called ‘Richard Dawkins - How A Scientist Changed The Way We Think’ was published which brings together a collection of essays from a range of contributors that have been affected by his work.

The writers in the book include eminent scientists like Sir John Kreb (the Chairman of the UK Food Standards Agency) as well as great popular writers like Oxford’s Philip Pullman.

Ahead of the debate on Wednesday 29th March 2006, Richard visited BBC Oxford to talk briefly about his views on Life, The Universe and Everything.
