Henry Wymbs

1. How did you get into radio?
Involved as the 'Press Officer' Det. Inspector for Thames Valley Police and was around when the BBC started an Irish show in 1995.

2. What was your first broadcast?
In November 1996 I was a contributor for 'Irish Eye' when the presenter was unwell. I filled in, and to my horror I had great difficulty in working all the bits and pieces in the studio.

3. What other jobs have you done besides broadcasting?
Panel Beater and Police Officer

4. What would you like to be if you weren’t a radio presenter?
Would have loved to be a Butcher, would probably have got the chop by now.

5. What would listeners be surprised to learn about you?
I am a collector of old books on Gaelic football and hurling and do a great rendering of Louis Armstrong songs when I have a few pints

6. Which person would you most enjoy being stuck in a lift with?
Many people, but my preference would have to be Louise Hannon Assistant Editor at BBC Oxford, as I keep asking her for a rise (pay)

7. If you won the lottery, what would you do with the money?
I would certainly chance my lifestyle, I would remember all the nice folk who were good to me and my favourite charity (cancer research would benefit).

8. What is your worst habit?
Biting my fingernails or anybody else's I could get my teeth into. I have tried everything in an effort to stop, but sadly it’s still a problem

9. Tell us about your 1st:
My first car was a Triumph Herald, it had a great back seat for courting purposes. I would rather a good meal nowadays.
First job was a panel beater in Sligo, hated every minute of it.
My first kiss was in a hayshed, the girl looked better among the cows.
First record 'Hound Dog' by Elvis Presley.

10. What is your favourite?
Food: Chicken Curry
Sandwich: Beef Sandwich
Place in Oxfordshire: Burford
Item of Clothing: My shorts
Song: Suspicious minds by Elvis Presley
Film: Towering Inferno
TV Show: Open all hours
