On the 18th November 2005 there will be a massive concert at RAF Brize Norton in aid of Children In Need. As well as the big name acts playing in front of the 15,000 music lovers there are three slots for local acts.
The event organisers in London have chosen Fell City Girl and Belarus from the recommendations put forward by The Download team but the final place is to be decided by a public vote.
We asked local bands to submit their demos and had a phenomenal response demonstrating the breadth and depth of the vibrant music scene in the county. In was a tough job but we managed to whittle the entries down to a shortlist of five.
The finalists are:
100 Bullets Back
You can hear these bands as revealed on The Download by listening back to the show broadcast on the 29th Oct, 2005 available on the right of this page.
Their tracks are played again on the Anne Diamond breakfast programme every day this week and after the last has been played on Friday lines will open. We have decided NOT to take calls but you can vote by text on 07786 200 952 or email Tim Bearder using the address below.
The public decide 50% of the vote with the BBC panel of presenters Tim Bearder and David Gilyeat, Nightshift editor Ronan Munro and the London event organiser Glenn Barton, making up the other 50%.
Voting will open on Friday at 10am and close on Saturday at 12 midday. The winner will then be announced on The Download between 6 and 7 on Saturday evening.
