If you don’t know Richard Walters then you’re no Oxford music enthusiast. The man has being around forever, playing nearly every Oxford Punt since time began (he got away with doing so on several technicalities). He set up The Beard Museum, a regular acoustic night at The Purple Turtle, and has been an all-round stalwart on the live gig circuit ever since.

Having had several brushes with the main-stream music industry, Walters is currently settled with Noel Hogan's Mono Band. Noel was previously the guitarist in The Cranberries so that’s quite a fortuitous turn of events in itself but even more special is that he’s supporting the very lovely Gemma Hayes on her current tour.

Having met Gemma in the past I spent most of the interview prattling on with Richard about her and forgetting the importance of the other man sat in the room so I apologise for that. If you’re a massive Cranberries fan you’ll not get any great pearls from Noel in the interview on this page but you will hear all about Richard and his current life. Make sure you check it out and their website monoband.co.uk for more details on the current tour.
