The
room began to fill out quite nicely as James Weston dropped some
more acidic and twisted beats in the first set of the evening. It
was good enough to get people onto the dancefloor to start the night
going, but as the set climaxed the rush for the podium reached fever
pitch as he played the new Kurd Maverick remix of the classic Pump
up the Jam by Technotronic much to the crowds delight.
Emily
Williams then took over and played a much more straight up house
set. The drum beats were more baleric than James's, but it was a
nice juxtaposition to be at after the tougher approach that was
taken on earlier. At this point though it was time to hit the bar
for a bit until Lottie began in order to recharge the batteries.
Lottie
is the number one lady in house for a reason, her uncompromising
tribal style. It has won her fans all over the world and a fair
few hundred were packed in to see her at Slide for the second time
in seven months. She took the crowd on her traditional mix up of
all the various guises of house that leaves you with the impossible
task of putting together a tracklist afterwards, however you don't
care, as you have just spent two and a bit hours listening to the
finest underground music on offer at the time.
