The
night began with two hours of house & funky house played by Wayne
Meade and Mark Wetherall.
Can't say they were the best tunes I'd ever heard and at times felt
more as though I were at a disco than the hard dance night that I
had been expecting
 |
| The
dance floor soon filled up. |
This all
changed at 11 pm when Matty Dancer stepped up to the decks.
The room went dark, the system turned up, and the hard beats began!
I'd had a feeling at the start of the night that it might be a quiet
one, with just a drizzle of customers coming through the doors and
only one or two clubbers on the dance floor.
But I was proved wrong, as by midnight when Michael Boyce took to
the decks the dance floor was heaving and the room was far from empty!
Michael played a wicked set with some top tunes dropped in, including
'Don't stop the groove' by Andy Farley & Dave the drummer, and
he played some of his own productions.
 |
| The
floor was heaving for Michael Boyce. |
The 'underground
rave' feel was helped by some great light effects and a strobe with
crowd blinder effect that was put to good use with every uplifting
'hands in the air' breakdown!
Finally at 1am Sam Eels stepped up to finish the night, playing tunes
such as 'One night in Hackney' by Dynamo city, and the BK mix of Nirvana's
'Smells like teen spirit'.
I have to give credit to all the clubbers as every single one of them
was having it until the very end
(2.10 and I think the bouncers
were starting to get slightly ticked off
!).
Altogether a very enjoyable night and nice to see some more promotions
putting on hard stomping nights.
It's just what Oxford need's to clear its cobwebs! |
