The BBC is committed to running its business in a way that is responsible and which has a positive impact for our licence fee payers. This work takes many different forms and covers a lot of business areas – including employment, diversity, our environmental impacts and our work supporting charities.
We sit on a number of corporate responsibility groups and boards in order to share best practise and to share our expertise in a way that is beneficial to our society. In 2011, we achieved a score of 98% and Platinum ranking in Business in the Community’s Corporate Responsibility Index, which was the highest in the category of Media and Entertainment.
Reporting on our performance
As an internationally recognised public service broadcaster, we aim to be open and transparent in all that we do. We produce an annual Corporate Responsibility Performance Review aligned to the BBC's Annual Report and Accounts, which is where you can read all about how we’ve performed against the targets we’ve set in corporate responsibility areas.
In addition to these annual reports, we also publish regular CR Updates which give a rounder and more detailed about a particular area of the work we do. Finally, you can find out about our various projects throughoput the year by signing up to the BBC Outreach newsletter.
