The BBC supports various causes in the UK and around the globe with our three corporate charities. They are:
Our creative programming tries to engage the widest possible audiences in the work charities – both in the UK and internationally. Our annual telethons for BBC Children in Need and our established partner Comic Relief, which alternates its appeals between Red Nose Day and Sport Relief, have become national events that see our audiences taking part on a huge scale in order to raise money for worthy causes.
As well as the annual appeals, we broadcast monthly appeals on BBC national, regional and local broadcasts throughout the year which help raise the profile of a wide range of charities. The amounts raised by all of these appeals continues to rise each year, despite the economic downturn, demonstrating the degree to which BBC broadcast appeals continue to resonate with viewers and listeners.
