Can't have a wheelchair services chair because my son has a chair given by Whizz Kids. They used to maintain it now they won-t. It has just cost me almost two hundred pounds to fix now the tyres are close to needing renewing at a cost of one hundred and fifty pounds. Please has anyone any advice.

I can well see your predicament and anything to do with mobility doesn't come cheap. There are also some companies out to make a quick buck.
Perhaps the best advice I can give you is to 'shop around' or ask a local disability group for advice, they may know someone who does a good job without breaking the bank.
I hope you get fixed up soon. This is a reply to this message.

What about giving Whizz-kids chair back and getting NHS model? Probably need to go through son's GP ,maybe OT, .so he is never left chairless! Also, I've found cycle shops to be well up on basic fix its Hate to suggest it, but communityfundraising is another idea what un necessary stress!! Whizz-kids should do better! Also maybe try Contact a Family for advice. Wishing you and yours the best, kk

or at least I assume it is some peculiarity of the name which causes this miraculous service at n.h.s cost, and for a millionaire
............surely it could not be that the n.h.s budget for a hundred (or a thousand) other people's wheelchairs was not all used up because someone with political influence abused it to save his own overflowing pocket?
