If stemcells continue to work for hearing loss. I think I will travel overseas in the next couple of years and have a go. I believe the costs are around 3k in China/ Japan..which is quite affordable.

Hell, if they work, I'll take out a loan to pay for it lol!!

My hearing before menieres was 60db. Now at 120db, I would be happy to get back 40-50db..anything more would be an extra bonus.

This excites me..it's my biggest wish to hear as I did before menieres robbed me blind.

I found it surfing the net.

My hearing problems all started as a result of allergies. Ive always been prone to sneezing fits and stuffed nose. As a result of clogged ears, I got menieres disease 10 years ago. Slowly the hearing has continued to decline since.

If I could restore some marginal hearing back via stemcells, I would be a very happy man indeed. Im not expecting to be completely hearing unaided,..that's far too unrealistic.

It's more achieveable, to have 30db-40db improvement both ears.

So, with aids I would beable to hear over the phone again, listen to music clearly like I could before and understand speech with lip-reading like I could before.

I think my goals are more attainable with these expectations.

So, with luck on my side, I will achieve my dream of restoring my lost hearing naturally.

I believe America and England won't have the treatment available for many years due to various corrupt ideas.

On the otherhand, China is one of the richest countries in the world, and their technology advances are striding ahead.

It's only a matter of time...more people will hear better again.

From what Ive read yes, £3k excluding flights, accomodation etc.

Still, it's too early to jump on the bang wagon me thinks.

I will seriously consider putting myself forward earlier than others, once I have more inside information on the success rates.

Because once the news gets out that there is a successful treatment available, there is no doubt people from all over the world will be lining up for treatment.

A woman in Japan has had hearing restored and they are trying the therapy on a 4 year old deaf girl now. We will ask SEE HEAR to get a panel of deafies in and see how they view that ? Opponents are going to find no ground to stand on, as this stem cell therapy poses no dangers they claim CI's do, and via the treatment they are 'curing' themselves.......

lol dont blame her why dont they do buy one get one free !

I did ask the audiologist last week and they dont do them in this country yet !
I am def saving but I have seen the prices on the net for 30,000 ?
3K is worth spending just to have a go I mean theres no damage to your ears because its a natural process ?

Even when stem therapy really takes off, it won't be a cure for all.

Some types of deafness will remain untreatable...still I wish for all deaf to be cured..I really do.

Deaf can then enjoy music, better job prospects and overall a bloody better quality of life!!

There's no argument with stemcells,..except some god idealogy that we should accept who we are and not try and change ourselves.

This is a natural cure..a cure that most of us have been waiting for. CIs will be defunct..finished..no competition with cell therapy.

The only thing we have to lose is a car to pay for it lol!

Im no doctor, but those that were born without cochlears, bones in the middle ear etc..may not beable to be helped. Also, those that have had extensive surgery..will be problematic.

I was born with auditory nerve damage from Rubella. My cochlears were perfectly healthy until 10 years ago, when menieres started to kill those haircells off, bit by bit. I hold out hope to get my cochlears healthy again...Im not expecting an all out cure..it would be nice though lol!

Sensory deafness affects the hair cells..stemcells will be the first to fix this.

Just a matter of time..but as I said before I can't see England offering treatment on the NHS for years.

fb? Ive heard dodgy things about fb..Im cautious.

I went for an initial interview at Plymouth this week. I have to wait now to see a specialist at Bristol and have an MRI scan.
I have pondered this decision for some time, I have taken in what has been said and I concluded that my hearing is now so poor that I have nothing to lose.
If I have the op and it doesn't work I was heading for "no usable hearing " anyway so I have lost nothing.
I suppose the worst that can happen is I pop my clogs. Well that was going to happen at some point anyway!
