I was just curious how disabled folk go about getting to the t-bar / lifts ?
I can see this not being a problem skiing down , but if your parked a fair distance away or the t- bar / life in unaccessbile due to steps snow, or a slope , how do u get there ?
Im just basing this on my experince ( i used to race ) at one time and wondering how other who have done it get round this.
I assume it varies depending on where you go and that the easiest option is just to take a cable car ( i dont how it would work with chair lift / ski bike.
Just curious as another possible avenue to explore.

It entirely depends on the nature of your disability, the specific adaptive ski equipment you use and the facilities in the particular resort so there is no single answer to this question.
Disability Snowsport UK are a brilliant organisation and make sking and snowboarding accessible in one form or another to anyone with disabilities or even just health problems that make it hard to use standard ski equipment. They are able to adapt equipment and techniques to deal with most situations. For some people, depending on their function and the resort itself, it is possible to access lifts unaided and to ski independently. In other situations this isn't possible and some assistance is needed with aspects of getting around.
I ski using a mono sit -ski and it is possible to get on and off chairlifts without getting out. A special attachment is used if it has to be used on drag lifts.
At the end of the day there are ways to do all of these things but you need to be taught by a ski instructor who is trained to teach adaptive skiing - they know what works for each of the types of adaptive ski kit. Are you thinking of giving adaptive skiing a try? This is a reply to this message.

Are you thinking of giving adaptive skiing a try?
yes Id like to give it a shot , purely because I never got the chance to ever ski abroad when I was skiing on 2 legs and it was something ( skiing esp through trees ) I always like the idea of doing .
White water rafting was something else although Im bit tender round the shoulders .
Id like to find something any way ,even if anything just to change to give me more options of going somewhere i.e. right now I dont have much incentive other than travel writing .
i cant stand lounging around on beaches or just doing the typical sigh seeing i.e. I preer getting to know locals and scene as it where .
I suppose Im just thinking of options you know , I know uk is pretty small and this is setback i.e. I dont know how easy it is to even start something or get others interested if you live in pretty small town as I do.
Id love to play tennis again and was another reason I was thinking about the power assisted wheel chair i.e. to take strain of shoulders .and just get around easier but i dont know, its still big if .
I thought about ice hockey , baseball as some other sports I always wanted to do but never found the people or facilities.
Hell, Id even settle for rounders at this point :P

Helen,
Sounds like you should try and get over to Colorado and visit the NSCD in Winter Park.

All i can say is it is a brilliant place. I have been four or five times in the Winter and i believe the summers are even nicer.
Not cheap mind you!
Enjoy,
