Did anyone see Trevor Phillip's being interviewed on the Parliament channel this week (10 November) caught it tonight. He was being put on the spot by the Goverments Commission. To me he wasn't very confident in answering the questions hedging around them and trying to evade the question.
I do wonder if this person is the right person to run the EHRC.

It was televised tonight (Friday)

Harriet Harman thought he was/is. Apparently his profile faired better than Mr Blobby or Muffin the Mule - Miss Piggy and Kermit declined the post

I wouldn't trust him to run a bath. He's ok on race issues but has no clue whatsoever about the other equality strands. A cynical person might think he got the job to ensure that the CRE joined the new organisation at the same time as the EOC and DRC, rather than in 2009 as they were threatening to do.

When I was watching the parliament channel apparantly the committee have uncovered that he has another business which is apparently classed as a conflict of interest.
After watching 10 minutes of it I was so bored with Mr. Phillips I switched it off. It was just like watching someone make toffee. To slow and boring for my likingThis is a reply to this message.

You might find the following submissions to the Human Rights select committee of interest especially the one by Baroness Campbell.

Interesting (and depressing) to see Sir Bert Massie talking about his experiences in the transcript with the other three commissioners. This is a reply to this message.
