    Hi
Well tribunal lasted all of 5 minutes! Apparently they think it would be best if I have a home visit from an independant doctor.

I was told by the receptionist that would be to my advantage, I certainly hope so.

A bit gutted that it's not all over, but things never go smoothly do they?

    So another wait.

How I wish they would send someone out to assess my sons disabilities. He receives middle rate care component even though he cannot walk at all, needs shaving, showering, teeth cleaning, food cutting up, help with dressing 7 days per week and probably 101 other things I just do as a matter of course. Why do we have to keep filling these horrendous forms in when as far as I know there is no cure for cerebral Palsy?

    Hi Kyta,

Having been to many tribunals with others as their advocate I would adivse caution about a visiting Dr. I find they are not advantageous as they are not aware of your disability or how it may affect you personally. They can and do use questions to trip you up with your answers. Please be careful, think before you answer and ask them what they know about your condition before answering their questions. Many are GP's who have this as an extra income. I hope this will be of help. If you go for another tribunal take someone who knows about your condition with you to help you when in front of the interviewers.

    Hi Chairpusher,
To be able to receive the higher rate care of DLA you need to ''prove'' care needs throughout the day and throughout the night, in other words that you not only look after your son many times for various reasons through the day, but that you also get up more than twice through the night to help him with his personal care needs, this could be to turn him in bed, get him up to toilet, give him medication, go to him if he calls out etc.
Not all Dr's who visit know what Cerebral Palsy is or how it affects your son, as you will know all children and adults with Cerebral palsy are all affected differently. The charity SCOPE may well be able to help you, also try CAB if you think you could get the higher rate they are very good at helping people with their DLA forms.
I hope this is of help.
