I went to the pain clinic today to get my meds increased as i am suffering very badly.

However cause i am also trying for a baby he wont give me anything.

I have to cope with the pain or give up trying for a baby so he can give me better meds. Then once it works he wantys me to stop the meds and try again. The problem is wihtout seriously strong painkillers i can't even walk let alone try for a baby!

sorry ranting. How is everyone else? Any good doctor stories to cheer me up?

Unfortunately there is a limit to how many meds they can give you if you're pregnant or about to get pregnant. Too many pills can cause complications, disability or even miscarriage.

Some of the strongest ones are not permitted to be used unless you are on effective contraception because the side effects to the fetus are so horrendous.

At the end of the day, any medical requirements during attempting pregnancy or actual pregnancy are a balancing act. They have to balance the wellbeing of the mother over the harm they might do to the wanted fetus which also has an impact on the wellbeing of the mother. Miscarriages or still births are not easy things to cope with.

Have you considered adoption instead? There are many children who need a loving parent in the system.

    Hi there,

Just composed a reply then lost it as my laptop battery ran out so I'll try again.

Good doctor stories: well my GP is a complete sweetie and hugely supportive and my psychiatrist is also very kind. On a more trivial note one of the doctors looking after my mother in her last illness was just gorgeous!

More seriously, I'm really sorry to hear your pain is so bad at the minute. My own pain levels are horrendous just now so I do sympathise. Have the pain clinic offered you any other pain management techniques that don't involve medication?

I'm due to start CBT soon with a particular focus on issues around pacing. Whether it will help I don't know but it's worth a try. I am desperate to gain some control over my pain and hope this will help.

Otherwise all I can offer is smiley - hug

    Kate
